Just Killing Time Till Après
5 Steps to Being a Boulder Newbie: Tips from my first 60 days.
1.) Get yourself a bike. Boulder is very easily traversed by bike. There are bike l
anes, secure bike posts, and many places around town that will give you a discount if you show up on two wheels, i.e. CorePower Yoga. Say goodbye to your car –you’ll seldom need it here.
2.) Lather yourself in sunblock! Clearly the sun shines here, it shines in a lot of places, but what you might forget is that Boulder is about a mile closer to that giant orb in the sky than most, making the potential of turning yourself into a lobster much, much higher. I recommend anything SPF 50 or higher. You’ll thank me.

3.) Don’t be afraid of getting up a 3:30am for a day of spring skiing. The Indian Peaks are like something out of a dream where you can ski perfect corn under bluebird skies. The early rise is well worth the pain.
4.) Try Ras Kassa’s Ethopian restaurant on 30th and Pearl. It is an amazing experience, and amazing food! Eating with your hands out of one large dish is a great way to get to know those new friends you met climbing!
5.) Bring along your pooch. It seems as though a dog is part of the uniform around here. Lucky dogs – Boulder is extraordinarily dog-friendly town and even has an off-leash Green Tag program – hiking with your four legged friend has never been better.
