In 1913, the STANLEY brand built its first iconic green hammertone vacuum bottles. They were nearly indestructible and kept contents piping hot for long days on the job. Fast-forward about 100 years, when Momentum spent 11 years bringing STANLEY’s more modern assortment to the consumer mindshare - and worked with select affiliate partners that shot the STANLEY Tumbler into an orbit of viral demand that is now on a seemingly endless ride. Transforming a brand story from functional beverageware to fashion accessory doesn’t happen overnight, and Momentum was often launching products to vastly different markets simultaneously, like their titanium collection to Every Day Carry consumers, while also launching their legacy series to a more mass retail audience..
As the PR agency of record for Teva, Momentum was asked to reach new consumers for the brand as it relaunched its iconic silhouette, the Teva Original. Momentum went directly to work with our extensive network of New York based style and fashion media, as well as key influencers to put Teva sandals in a new and different light. The results? Momentum put Teva Originals on 3 New York Fashion week runways, landed an editorial Collab with Glamour, and brought the brand to its highest web traffic ever in just one year. In three years, consideration for the brand increased two-fold, and Teva Originals are now seen everywhere, from of-the-moment music fests and city streets to campfires under the stars.
As experts in working with global brands based abroad, Momentum took ECCO’s footwear to new heights, starting with their Dyneems Exostrike boot, aimed at urban utility with outdoor hybridization. We’ve seen many years of success since, elevating ECCO in style and sport-specific media, positioning their classic Soft 7 sneaker as the ultimate travel shoe, and launching their outdoor collection to core and mainstream media. Footwear awards range from the prestigious Red Dot Design Award, media awards from Outside, Popular Science, Women’s Health, and Footwear Plus, and a Sustainability and Innovation Award for Dri-Tan, a groundbreaking tanning process that saves millions of gallons of water from the leather tanning process. We’ve built long-standing media and influencer relationships for the brand, while optimizing their editorial coverage for affiliate publishing partners, placing ECCO in shopping and e-comm stories that drive revenue at Nordstrom, Dillard’s, Scheels, and REI, while raising top-of-funnel awareness - a win-win for this global footwear giant.
To launch these guilt-free, gluten-free, and non-GMO canned potato chips, Momentum enlisted an “army” of influencers to share their healthy snacking and inventive recipes with the world. Without using a templated influencer platform, Momentum created a custom and curated list of influencers and optimized creator relationships for The Good Crisp company.  The results? One influencer activation sold over $70,000 in potato chips in 24 hours, and the brand is still on a fast track - in fact, it’s one of the fastest-growing snack brands nationwide, and available at major supermarkets and now, just about anywhere.
Momentum brought the story of this emerging merino sock brand to the masses, with consistent message-pull through of Darn Tough’s brand pillars: Comfort, Durability, and Fit, and Made in Vermont with a Lifetime Guarantee. Beyond the product story for multiple categories from technical hiking to cycling and lifestyle, Momentum brought the people and the mill forward, landing business and brand stories in The Boston Globe and Inc. Magazine. Because people are the business, Momentum was able to shine a light on a mill that has employed Vermont locals for three generations, making socks with an unwavering commitment to quality, from a brand that believes it “has yet to make its best sock”.
Not only did Momentum introduce Icebreaker North America, but we also worked with the company to introduce a new base layer category – 100% Merino wool. Without running a single paid advertisement in nearly seven years, Momentum is credited with “putting the brand on the map in the US market,” according to Icebreaker founder Jeremy Moon, and did so with premium positioning and sell-through success, year after year.
Prior to their acquisition by Hormel Foods, Momentum helped Justin’s fast-track growth trajectory through hard-hitting media coverage, everywhere from natural foods trade publications to Good Morning America. What started in 2004 as an experiment to make a better protein-packed fuel is now a prevalent market leader in nut butter-based snacking, offering products like spreads, squeeze packs, peanut butter cups, and snack packs. Momentum helped Justin’s with trade show support at key touchpoints like EXPO West while seeding samples to a wide range of media in the outdoor, fitness, natural foods and mainstream consumer markets, helping with sell-in and sell-through at major national supermarket chains.
Sixteen years of PR success with Mammut turned us into experts in working with global brands with an HQ located abroad, or even across the world - Switzerland, Denmark, New Zealand - you get the idea. Messaging, brand, and product storytelling needs to be adapted to the North American market, and that’s exactly what Momentum did, from the brand’s initial launch in the United States and Canada. Momentum worked directly with core outdoor media to build credibility for Mammut’s Swiss-quality, premium product offerings, from technical outerwear for high summits to avalanche safety airbag packs, beacons, and of course, climbing gear and ropes - the brand’s heritage since 1862. Seeding Mammut to key media, guides, outdoor pros and authentic “influencers” - before the advent of Instagram led to the Mammut logo proliferating on wearers across North American ski resorts, mountain towns, and far-flung expeditions. Momentum managed everything Mammut charged us with promoting across multiple categories, including outerwear, backpacks, footwear, lifestyle apparel, avalanche safety, headlamps, climbing gear and spotlighting the Mammut athlete team. And our client retention over 16 years spoke volumes about our ability to increase ROI and success for the brand, year over year.
Momentum has seen a lot of success with notable footwear brands, including ECCO, Teva, Bogs, Forsake and more. For Superfeet, a heritage insole brand, we were faced with the unique challenge of landing PR coverage for this “invisible” yet essential piece of gear. How do you pitch stories and land meaningful and memorable coverage for supportive insoles that many people are using but that we almost never see? Answer: Solution Awareness. Momentum looked at Superfeet insoles as a solution rather than simply as a product. We crafted story angles around healthy feet, how to make shoes more comfortable, easing back pain for people on their feet all day, and seasonal pitches like running essentials, recovery, and trends, including upticks and surges in walking, running, and outdoor recreation. We pushed out news around key partnerships with major brands like HP, New Balance, and Brooks Running, as well as key specialty retailers like Fleet Feet. The result was a year-round, steady stream in top-tier outlets, both print and digital, that continued to increase year over year.
For 5 years, Momentum served as the North American agency of record for the Canadian-based activewear brand for women. With their “Live Out Loud Everyday” ethos, Momentum generated product coverage for the brand in endemic, active lifestyle and more mainstream fashion media outlets. In addition to product placement, Momentum also worked with the Lolë team as they opened their first ateliers (combined retail and workspace) in New York City and Montreal, as well as building community through their Lolë White Tour yoga gatherings. The annual Lolë White Tour was launched with the goal of building a global wellness movement as well as community for the brand, and in its first few years, united over 50,000 women around the world.
11 years ago, BOGS° Footwear tasked Momentum to maintain – and continue to strengthen – the foothold the brand has in the outdoor space while expanding its presence to a more mainstream consumer base. With a new product line introduction (waterproof leather), Momentum set out to introduce a new category for the legendary and beloved BOGS°  brand. In the process, we’ve also deepened our existing relationships with outdoor media, leading to more substantial and more frequent coverage of products in top-tier outlets, buyers and gear guides, and “Gear of the Year” awards coverage. We’ve also placed BOGS everywhere from New York Times Wirecutter and GQ to hunting outlets like Field & Stream and farm and ag publications, staying true to the brand’s roots.
